Game Review: Super Smash Bros Brawl

If were talking about an extremely fun party game were talking some of the original Mario party games, rock band, stuff like that... for me it's Smash bros. This game is the only reason I got a Wii! Tons of characters to play, a new story mode, and an abundance of fun to have in versus mode! The original smash bros was fantastic, but Melee took it to new levels, just like Brawl took Melee to new levels.

Released in 2008 which feels like forever now, doesn't it? Basically when you bought the Wii you either got Brawl,Wii sports, or New Super Mario Bros. I got my Wii on black Friday last year, just for this game, and it was totally worth it. Brawl sold about 10 million copies which really wasn't efficient for how much better it was then other games Wii sold.

Brawl added an adventure mode, which didn't  use much plot, more like a series of particular levels that were different in stretches. For instance, one level you can be fighting bad guys and you have to get to a certain vantage point, and other levels your just fighting a shadow character etc. It comes to around... 10 hours, for me at least. Overall I'd say it was pretty fun, it got boring in parts for sure. But nonetheless it was a good addition to a fantastic game.

Wii isn't really known for online play, when they added online play, I was scratching my head. And I was right... Wii's online play is laggy, takes forever to load, and just isn't worth the effort unless you have no one to play with (forever alone.) This was one unnecessary addition to this game that really sucks!

Just like in Melee they have challenge modes, like home run contest, smash the targets, and multiman brawl. Also you have classic mode which is basically the same as Melee's classic mode, you have like 10 stages and you have to beat all of them, then you fight the master hand.

Overall Nintendo added 31 completely new stages for you to play on, as well as 10 retro levels from Melee.  Nintendo added an armada of interactive things to the new levels, which were constructed very well. The graphics in Brawl are as high quality as possible when Brawl came out. A total of 35 playable characters were in Brawl, which was 10 more than Melee, and 23 more than Nintendo 64 Smash Bros. For the next Smash Bros which is in development they might not even add any extra characters. "It isn't a matter of 'if the next game has 50 characters, that'll be enough'" Sakurai said (video game director for Brawl) "There is a certain charm to games that have huge casts of playable characters, but they tend to have issues with game balance and it becomes very difficult to fine-tune each character and have them all feel distinctive.""In terms of quantity, we've probably already reached the limit of what's feasible. I think a change in direction may be needed." Sounds like for the next Smash Bros there will be some big differences, who knows what they will do.

As it comes to game play Brawl differs from Melee, Melee may have been faster and more capable for pro play, Brawl had it's own define feel. If you were to ask me how they differ, I would tell you in exact words 'They feel fatter.' They are slower and not as agile, that doesn't mean that it's not fun! It's plenty of fun, it's just different and has a different feel. All of the additions to Brawl... well make up for a couple short comings.

Brawl stepped it up with great levels, new characters, and new modes to add tons of fun! There isn't too much about this game not to like, besides the online play (Just forget it even exists.) If you haven't played it, do yourself a favor and buy it.

2013 Games Rush: Crysis 3

As our first upcoming feature we are gonna talk about is Crysis 3. Crysis 2 was not as popular as it maybe should have been, although I didn't have to deal with any glitches, it did have a ton of glitches unfortunately and turned people off from buying it. Nonetheless it was a great game, I had tons of fun playing, the graphics were fantastic and it had an intriguing story line that was really fun to get into. The company who made it was crytek which virtually had no ambition to fix the game when it came to glitches, bugs, and people who could easily hack this game.

What were hoping with Crysis 3 is that crytek will not go lazy, and actually do the work of making a good game, which isn't just making a game with good graphics and release it and not do any work after, PLEASE DO IT, if you do the work Crysis 3 can be a masterpiece!

Game Review: Super Meat Boy

Super meat boy is an indie-platformer game made by two gentlemen, who call themselves team meat. Meat boy won plenty of awards, including downloadable game of the year by gamespot, and the most difficult game of the year by Ign. Making an indie game is very difficult for a few reasons, usually only 2 or 3 people are making the indie game at a time. They basically work on it 24/7 over 1-4 years, and then they release it on a console system arcade, like Xbox arcade,PC , and WiiWare (and some other ones.) Super meat boy not only was really fun, but ridiculously hard.

Game Review: FIFA 13

Over a year ago, FIFA 12 brought significant changes to the EA Sports soccer gaming franchise.  This year, FIFA 13 did not exactly follow in those footsteps.  There haven't been any dramatic game-altering features included in this years installation.  Instead, EA did well to build on the foundation created by FIFA 12, making minor, but ultimately impactful changes.
